Short version: My name is Dan Salera, and like the people I talk to for Horns of New York, am a freelance horn player in the NYC area.
Long version: I started Horns of New York as a way to showcase full-time freelance horn players in the NYC area. Before moving to New York, I often wondered “who does the kind of work I’m interested in doing?” I found that basic internet searches didn’t yield a whole lot, and since most freelancers don’t have a glossy photo hung in a concert hall along with a nice bio on “XYZ” Orchestra’s website, learning about freelance players in New York proved annoyingly difficult! I always thought a place that was dedicated to these dedicated players should exist, and when I found that it didn’t, I decided to create it myself.
